Richard Straman of Orange County, California started building convertibles out of luxury brands in the early 1980’s. His shop, Richard Straman Coachworks, ended up building over 10,000 convertible conversions from 1981 to 1996. A considerable amount of work was invested in testing the chassis and reinforcing it to provide similar structural integrity as a hardtop. He produced just over 100 Mercedes conversions, which were sold new through the U.S. Mercedes Benz dealerships. The MSRP with options was over $65,000 - and before delivery, this 560 was delivered to Straman Coachworks in Costa Mesa, California for the convertible conversion, which added $50k+ to the vehicle . This 560 SEC comes with an extra master key, original owner’s manuals, tool kit, original maintenance book with vehicle data card, spare tire, tonneau cover, car cover, and jack.
